THE MILESTONES IN OUR HISTORY
1928/29
Augusto Bauer, Trentino born and bred, sets up a business for the importation of chicken stock cubes from Berlin.
The idea to launch a stock cube production line in Trentino is hatched in this period. Augusto’s brother, Edoardo, moves to Berlin to learn the secrets of production.
1930
The products are an overnight success, before the global economic depression triggers a sudden halt in imports. The small production line in Trentino must do more if it is to survive.
1933
In the San Martino district of Trento, Augusto and Edoardo launch the first Italian company specialised in the production of chicken stock cubes.
1940
Restrictions imposed by the Italian regime threaten chicken stock cube production; Bauer starts producing beef stock cubes, focusing on quality.
1950
In contrast with its competitors, Bauer remains committed to quality, using only natural products. The use of low-temperature drying, a more expensive production technology, is a prime example of this quality pledge.
1960
The next generation of Bauers, sons Carlo Alberto and Claudio, drive the company’s expanding role in cuisine with the creation of the first flavour enhancers and the first sauces drawing on Trentino culinary tradition: Goulash, Strangolapreti, Fungarella, Backfish, Arostina, Peverada.
1970
Thanks to its excellent quality, artisanal production methods and careful selection of raw materials, Bauer becomes one of the most popular Trentino companies in Italy. This period sees the launch of the first stock cubes, sold loose or in the “nostalgic” two-cube packet. Discontinued at the end of the ’70s, they are then reintroduced in the early ’90s.
1980
A fire at the factory destroys part of the production line, which is immediately replaced and updated, with not only the same original spirit, but also the same skilled workforce and traditional production techniques.
1986
Bauer launches Vegetalbrodo: the first 100% plant-based broth that dissolves instantly in boiling water. It’s gluten-free, with no added monosodium glutamate.
1997
After years of hard work, the company obtains ICEA certification, allowing it to guarantee a 100% organic product line: Organic Vegetable Stock Cubes and Organic Vegetable Stock Granules are launched.
2012
A crucially important year. The company inaugurates its new headquarters, epitomising the Bauer philosophy: completely environmentally sustainable, it’s the first project of its kind in Italy and indeed the world to be awarded the prestigious LEED Gold certification.
2015
The Organic product line continues to expand: Bauer creates Organic Meat Stock Cubes and Stock Granules, together with Organic Chicken Stock Cubes and Stock Granules. This testifies to the company’s increasing focus on people, nature and taste.
2018
Bauer invents Organic Spice Stock Cubes and Organic Miso Stock Cubes, both ICEA certified. Naturalness and creativity go hand in hand. Oriental flavours offer Italians delicious new possibilities in the kitchen. Organic Ginger, Curry, Turmeric and Saffron Stock Cubes: everyone can personalise their own recipes with an exotic and truly innovative touch.
2024
The latest, fantastic Bauer creation is launched: Dadocrema the first cream stock cube, for superlative broths and recipes, in vegetable and meat versions.
Made with over 70% natural purée of select vegetables in the plant-based version, while the meat version contains over 60% natural purée of select vegetables and 11% beef extract.
